PUPPY CARE

PLEASE NOTE
Chocolate, onions, grapes, raisins, cocoa, macadamia nuts &
sugar free gum.
Can be fatal to dogs!

Your new puppy will need a lot of attention & care for the first few weeks.
They will be very lonely when on their own missing the fuss of brothers & sisters.
It is not uncommon for them to cry for the first little while if left alone for long.
But as they get used to being without mom & siblings to snuggle up with they will soon sleep through the night.
They may also seem a bit shy for the first little while as well,
with their strange new home & strange giant people.
Please make sure plenty of kibble & water is available at all times when your puppy is small.
Especially with the little Chihuahua type puppies.
Due to their small size they can perish in a very short time without constant nourishment.
You will get a starter kit
with your new baby.
containing food, info, etc.
Make sure your puppy has lots of toys & things to chew & play with so they do not start on things not to be chewed.
Make sure you socialize your new baby.
Meeting lots of new people & animals & being made a fuss over will make them friendly & outgoing.
( First make sure they have all shots or your vet gives the ok.)

*IMPORTANT*

NEVER

play roughly with your new puppy!
This is the MAIN cause of aggressive behavior in adult dogs.
The first time you here your new puppy bark is a special event for most people, but remember not to encourage them or you may have a barker on your hands.
Never encourage behavior in your puppy that you do not want in your adult dog.

Q-- Why does my puppy want to bite?
A--This is a very common question.
Normally this behavior is spent on brothers & sisters.
(If you are lucky enough to get 2 puppies,
this is usually not a problem.)
But if not its now you who gets it.
Fingers & toes are great toys,
& your puppy is usually teething at this age as well
& may be in some discomfort.
This is quite normal puppy behavior in all breeds
& is usually soon outgrown.
Most get very concerned that their pup will be aggressive because of this.
If you gently pick them up by the scruff of the neck
& hold them until they submit,
or just pin them down (as mom would do) & tell them a sharp,
NO, BAD, BAD girl/boy,
or any word you prefer.
Always use the same word when bad,
& never use their call name when bad.
They must associate their call name with only good
behaviour & as positive reinforcement.
They will soon learn what is unacceptable behavior
by your words & tone of voice alone.
You dont have to be mean to them, just be firm with them.
Start as soon as your pup does.
If you make their biting at you uncomfortable
for them at a young age,
their bites will soon turn into licks.
( You must never allow your puppy to bite!).
You must be the BOSS!
"Top Dog, Pack Leader"
& teach your puppy right from wrong.
You must win the battle or you may lose the war!
Its never to soon or late to start training your puppy.
Our pups are VERY smart little dogs & learn easily.
PLEASE do not blame the dog, the breed, or the breeder, for
your mistakes!
A well trained pup makes the best pet & companion.

PLEASE REMEMBER
Puppies are a clean slate.
Its up to you to teach your baby & start your puppy off right.
There are no bad dogs, only bad owners!
All parents of our puppies are good natured & to bite would not even cross their mind.
Nasty little "diva" dogs are not used to produce the same thing.
Our puppies are very good natured just like mom & dad & grandma & grandpa etc. etc.
So whatever your needs may be,
companion dog, therapy dog or a great little family pet,
raise your puppy right & you will have the dog of your dreams!

GROOMING

It is important to bath & groom your puppy.
If you start when he is small it will be much easier as they grow.
A nice warm bath with a good quality flea shampoo once a week will keep them clean and parasite free.
Make sure to dry them well so they dont get a chill.
This is most important when they are small & in flea season.
Topical Revolution is also a wonderful product for keeping your pet free of most parasites.
(over 8 weeks)
When they are grown a good brushing once a week will keep them tangle & loose hair free,
& just a bath when needed.

POTTY TRAINING

This can be quite a simple task if you remember that after a nap & shortly after a meal or drink they will need to go.
If you put them on their news paper, piddle pad, or in their litter box at these times, they will soon learn to go by themselves.
Keep it close at hand at first & slowly move it to its permenant location.
Our puppies are already used to using news paper & some even the doggy door to go outside & we are told they do train quite easily.
The more you understand about puppy behaviour the easier training will be.

Many years of selective breeding focused on intelligence & disposition have gone into our puppies.
If raised properly, you will never own
a smarter, sweeter, or more loving dog!
THANKS so much for reading this page
